A litigant who is unable to pay may apply for an exemption, together with an affidavit on their financial situation (regulation 14). The court decides according to the applicant's means and whether the proceeding discloses a cause of action.
Court fee calculator
How much is the court fee when filing a claim? The calculator computes the fee under the Courts (Fees) Regulations, 5767-2007, at the amounts updated for 2026: in a monetary claim, in a personal injury claim, for non-monetary relief and in appeals.
Disclaimer. The calculator provides an estimate only, based on the data entered and the assumptions set out here. It does not constitute legal advice or an undertaking as to any outcome. The actual fee is determined under the Regulations and by the court registry. The office accepts no liability for any damage arising from use of the calculator or from reliance on its results.
How much is the court fee in a monetary claim?
2.5% of the amount claimed, as valued at the time the claim is filed. In the Magistrates' Court, not less than NIS 893 (2026). In the District Court, 1% applies to the portion exceeding NIS 28,580,660. The fee is paid in two halves: the first on filing, and the second no later than 20 days before the first hearing scheduled for the taking of evidence (the evidentiary hearing), plus linkage differentials. A pre-trial hearing is not regarded as a hearing for this purpose (regulations 1 and 6).
Is there a refund if the case ends early?
Yes. A case that ended before the conclusion of the third pre-trial hearing, by withdrawal, settlement, arbitration or mediation ending in an agreement, entitles the party to a refund of the fee paid, less NIS 839 in the Magistrates' Court or NIS 1,429 in the District Court (2026), plus linkage differentials (regulation 6(b)).
What about non-monetary relief?
A declaratory order, a mandatory or prohibitory order, dissolution of a partnership and similar relief are regarded as proceedings whose value cannot be expressed in money (regulation 3), and carry a fixed fee: NIS 774 in the Magistrates' Court and NIS 1,363 in the District Court (2026). Where the proceeding includes several remedies, a single fee is paid, the highest of them (regulation 2(b)). For information on conducting a civil case, see Civil litigation.
