No. Notary fees are fixed by the Notaries (Service Fees) Regulations, 5739-1978, and are not open to negotiation. A notary may not charge more or less than the tariff.
Notary Fees
Notarial fees are set by the Notaries (Fees) Regulations, so the amount is the same with every notary in Israel and there is no room for bargaining. The rates are updated at the beginning of January each year, in line with the Consumer Price Index. A breakdown of every item and a fee calculator are available in the notary price list on notaryon.biz.
What will your service cost? Notary fee calculator
Notary fees are fixed by regulation and adjusted on 1 January each year, so every notary in Israel charges the same fee for the same notarial act. Instead of hunting for the right line in the table, choose the type of service, answer a few short questions (number of signatories, pages or words, time and place), and get a breakdown of the fee, the VAT and the final amount payable.
Additional charges
Select the notarial act, and the calculator will show the fee under the regulations, the VAT and the amount payable.
For example, authentication of one signatory's signature at the office, during office hours, costs NIS 197 before VAT, and certification of the translation of a document of up to one hundred words costs NIS 251 before VAT.
The full tariff, item by item: all the 2026 amounts, with an explanation of each item in the Regulations, are set out in the Notary Fee Schedule 2026 on the office's notary website, notaryon.biz.
What to know before you come
- The fee is fixed by law: a notary may not charge more than the fee fixed in the Regulations, nor less.
- Certification of a translation is charged by word count: it is therefore worth sending the document in advance to receive an accurate cost estimate before you come.
- Service outside office hours: service between 19:00 and 08:00 the following morning, and on days of rest, carries a 50% surcharge.
- Service outside the office: a visit to a home, a hospital or any other place is charged in addition under item 9, plus travel expenses.
- Apostille: an apostille on a notarial document is issued by the court and is not part of the notary fee. Check with the body for which the document is intended whether an apostille is required.
